The pet play lifestyle is full of so many voices that make it unique and vibrant. To showcase this, every month we will be shining the spotlight on a particular human animal or Handler in our community. Let's hear what makes every pet player special!
This month, we're finally featuring one of the Co-Founders of our wonderful little community. She's a kitten, Alpha Cat, and Handler, and helps make SoCal Creatures thrive and grow every day. We would never be where we are without her. Introducing...
VIXEN!
Please introduce yourself and how you identify in pet play.
My name is Vixen, and I am the Co-Founder of SoCal Creatures. I’ve been in the BDSM community for 10 years now. I am BIPOC and neurodiverse, which has made my learning in the community and myself an interesting journey.
I identify as two different creatures.
The first is my kitten side:
Think of what Cheshire from Alice in Wonderland looks like. Just all purple (deep purple and lavender). Then mix in Pixie from the comic Pet Foolery for size and you’ll have my kitten side! She’s very curious of the world around her. Loves to play with the hoomans but hasn’t had much exposure to other pets. Has a huge striped tail.
Some key words are: cute, cuddly, curious, playful, giggles
Next is my Alpha Cat side:
About the side of a medium-large dog size black in color, huge black years. She comes out when there’s other pets either to torment them or to watch over them (telling the hoomans others need water, attention etc) power and fierceness come off in waves.
How did you first get into pet play and discover how you identify in it?
I’ve always been into cats. I climb trees and perch on things that I can. To the point where my vanilla family sends me cat shirts, masks, and things like that.
I met a puppy when I first entered the scene. He showed me pet play and that it could actually be a thing. That I could be a cat and people wouldn’t judge me about it.
How are your kitten and Alpha Cat headspaces different?
One is cute and cuddly and the other is wanting to protect and hurt others.
What do you look for in pets as a Handler?
I look for pets who are wanting to grow and explore themselves. But they are confident that they are a pet. I enjoy being the one who is the tour guide on their journey.
How, if at all, do your intersections of identity influence your pet play?
My Alpha cat loves to hurt others. Using people or other pets as a scratching post is great.
For my kitten side, not much really.
For my handler side, I enjoy doing other types of play with pets. Dark pet play is so hot, rope, hypno, milking... so many things.
How do you hope to see the pet play and SoCal Creatures community grow in the future?
I hope to see the pet play community grow in their confidence and be happy.
What do you love most about pet play?
For both the pet side and the handler side, the bonding and growing of both myself and the people I interact with. Being able to grow and accept oneself is so hard and pushing myself to do so has been the best thing. Also the scariest part.
